Nyaudo Ukpabio Ndaeyo has emerged as the 8th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo.
The appointment was announced by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Austin Awujo, on Tuesday the 6th of October after a special meeting of the council.
According to Mr Awujo, the appointment will take effect from December 1, after the tenure of the current Vice-Chancellor, Enefiok Essien, ends.
Mr Ndaeyo, a Professor of Farming Systems, is the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University.
Born on March 25, 1961, Mr Ndaeyo is a native of the Ini Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State.
He holds a bachelor’s degree (First Class Honors) in Agronomy from the University of Uyo (then University of Cross River State) and a Master’s degree in Agronomy from the University of Ibadan, where he also bagged a PhD in Farming Systems.
Mr Ndaeyo joined the services of the University of Uyo as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Crop Science, on November 6, 1992.
He is the first alumnus of the University of Uyo to be appointed as Vice-Chancellor of a federal university in Nigeria.
