The Faculty of Education at the University of Ibadan on Tuesday held an exhibition centred on the history and impacts since established in 1962.
Alongside the exhibition, the faculty also conferred on some personalities merit awards to commemorate the 70th foundation anniversary of the University.
Julius Ademokoya, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, in his welcome address, succinctly appreciated the presence of everyone at the event while also lauding the contributions of the people towards the development of the Faculty. The history of the Faculty was read to the hearing of the people at the event and some past Deans of the Faculty gave their goodwill messages.
Adeniyi Osuntogun, former Vice-Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and chairman of the event who, declared the opening of the exhibition, in his speech, eulogized the giant strides attained by the faculty and the University at large, He said “When you are trained in Ibadan, it’s sure you have been well trained.”
In a paper delivered titled “History and impacts of higher institutions in Nigeria”, the OAU don gave an expository synopsis of how higher institutions started in Nigeria, listing the impacts of higher institutions and also highlighting the challenges facing higher institutions in Nigeria. The Chairman of the event alongside other guests made an inspection of various exhibited archived materials as displayed by departments and centres in the faculty.
