Following a ghastly motor accident on the 22nd of February, which involved a 200 Level student in the Faculty of Agriculture known as Ridwan Muhammad Alhaji, the Students’ Union of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has donated the cash sum of Twenty Thousand Naira to assist the victim’s treatment.
The Students’ Union donated this sum during a visit to the Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital where the victim is currently undergoing surgical treatment.
According to the representative of the Student’s Union who visited the injured student, the Union will provide further assistance when necessary.
“At the Students’ Union level, we are able to donate to this victim the sum of Twenty Thousand Naira and will continue to support him as time goes on,” he said.
The representative went on to appeal to the management and student body of the intitution for support, saying:
“At the Students’ Union level, we are appealing to the school management to put their hand, even if it’s a little support, so that he [will] be able to settle the debt of his medical expenses, God’s willing I am going to report this to the vice chancellor. [I’m] also appealing to all Danfodites, no amount is too small even if it’s Ten or Twenty Naira or what ever. All Danfodites should know that the victim is also a student like us but now in the hospital as a result of destiny.”
Speaking on the state of academic activities, the victim requested that the management defer a semesterfor him as he recovers.
“Right now, I prefer to defer my admission with one semester, if Allah assists me to be very healthy, by next semester inshaa Allah I will proceed with my education,” said Ridwan.
While appreciating the support he has received from students so far, the affected student appealed to the management to extend their kindness toward his recovery.
“I appeal to the school authority to help me financially so as to continue to receive treatment. Also, I thank Almighty Allah and all Danfodites because I have seen [the] support they have given to me because [that is waht has allowed me to] continue receiving different treatments,” he said.
