The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ademola Adeleke, in the just September 22 and 27 of Osun State governorship election has been granted an ex parte order by the Election Petition Tribunal constituted to hear the petitions from the election.
The order restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from altering election results as well as information contained in the card reader machines and other documents used for the poll.
This order was made by the head of the Tribunal, Igoche Aladi in Osogbo on Thursday before the commencement of pre-hearing session.
We gathered that Mr. Adeleke through his counsel, Nathaniel Oke, filed an ex parte application seeking leave of the tribunal to file the application before the pre-hearing session, leave of the tribunal to inspect and obtain certified true copies of electoral documents and materials in the custody of INEC in order to conduct physical inspection and verification of electoral materials and machines, as well as used and unused ballots, among others.
Mr Adeleke predicated his application on the grounds that the total votes won by the 1st applicant (Adeleke) on the 22nd day of September 2018 was 245,698 while the 1st respondent (Gboyega Oyetola of APC) scored 245, 345.
