The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed shock over Onitsha Market Fire, condoled with victims and has called for an investigation into the “remote and immediate” causes of the fire accident.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Thursday and made available to Premium Times.
Recall that on Wednesday, PREMIUM TIMES reported the explosion of a tanker, carrying Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol), which exploded in Onitsha, Anambra State after tipping over on the road. The fire incident in Onitsha on Wednesday reportedly claimed the lives of a mother and her child.
The statement reads:
“The @OfficialPDPNig is shocked by the devastating petrol tanker fire outbreak in Onitsha, Anambra state, describing the incident as heartbreaking and traumatizing.
The @OfficialPDPNig is deeply saddened by the tragic occurrence particularly, the painful death of our compatriots, including the mother and child, who lost their lives in the inferno that also razed houses, shops and other valuables.”
