Ogun state: Political Party Shares N500 to Corps Members Ahead of Gubernatorial Elections
A political party in Ogun State known as the Allied Party’s Movement (APM), has distributed the sum of Five hundred naira to corps members serving in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, ahead of the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections scheduled for March 9, 2019.
The money, sponsored by the APM’s candidate for the Ogun State House of Assembly, Ijebu Ode Constituency, Honourable Tola Banjo, was shared to corps members on Wednesday the 27th of February, at the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat, Itoro, after the corps members ended their Community Development Service activities.
It was gathered that the aspirant gave bundles of new N500 notes to the Chief Liaison Officer (CLO) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the Ijebu Ode local government, which was later shared among corps members.
While speaking to a CAMPUS REPORTER correspondent, two corps members who had already received their share of the money, confirmed that at least one bundle of new N500 notes were shared.
“Ward 6 and Ward 8 were given money at the local government but over 90 per cent of them are yet collect. Now, they just said they should give everybody N500 each. The money that was given to the girl here is over N50,000” a corps member, identified as Segun, said.
“What I saw was one wrap of N500. I was here, the man gave them one wrap of new N500 notes, which is N50,000,” another corps member, who received N500, informed our correspondent.
The CAMPUS REPORTER correspondent gathered that corps members who acted as Presiding Officers in the Ijebu Ode local government during the presidential elections were also requested to write their names and other contact details on a sheet of paper.
The APM’s governorship candidate, Abdulkabir Akinlade, is one of the major contenders for the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Ogun State. The aspirant has the support of the incumbent governor, Ibikunle Amosun, who has just been elected as the Senator representing the Ogun Central senatorial district.
Although Amosun won his senatorial bid on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he has granted support to APM as he seeks to be succeeded by Abdulkabir Akinlade of APM in the forthcoming gubernatorial polls.
The Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections will be held on March 09, 2019.
