The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of a Faculty of Dental Sciences in the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Sulaiman Lawal Bilbis, announced this when he led members of the university management to the Sokoto State Government House, where a paid a visit to the governor of the state, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
Professor Bilbis explained that the university will begin awarding a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental surgery in the next academic session, 2019/2020.
Professor Bilbis also noted that the university is currently awaiting approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to offer Mass Communications, Nutrition, Physiotherapy and Ophthalmology courses in the University.
He thanked the Sokoto State Government for its continuous assistance and willingness to collaborate with the institution, assuring that the authorities of the University will soon commence the gradual fencing of the institution’s perimeter to enhance its security.
In response to this, the Sokoto State Governor, Rt. Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal thanked the management team for the visit and assured them of the state’s willingness to collaborate with the institution.
The Governor saluted the peaceful activities of the University and expressed hope that the tempo would be sustained.
Finally, the governor congratulated the Vice-Chancellor and his deputies on their emergence and wished them a successful tenure and peaceful administration.
