On Friday the 22nd of March, the Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, held an interactive forum between parents of newly enrolled students and the school management.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Joseph Ahaneku, stated that the meeting was an important avenue for the school to inform parents of the institution’s activities.
He added that parents should endeavour to play their role in training their children to prevent them from going astray when they get into university.
Noting the school’s newest dalliance with technology, he announced that parents can now monitor their children’s academic progress by logging into a mobile application, which has been developed by the school to prevent students from lying about their results and the payment of their fees.
The Vice Chancellor also advised the new students to obey the rules of the school to avoid being rusticated, adding that they will be required to sign numerous including the character code and anti-cultism form which will allow the school legally remove any defaulter.
While speaking at the event, the wife of the Vice Chancellor and Leader of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Women’s Association, Professor Gladys Ahaneku, focused on student’s dressing in the university and how this is tied to their academic performance.
The event, which took place at the school auditorium, was attended by parents and guardians from different parts of the country, some lecturers and members of the management board.
