A Nigerian university undergraduate at Kogi State University, Ayingba, Alli Sharif, has been stabbed to death by his colleague, police have confirmed.
Mr Sharif, a 300-Level student of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, was allegedly stabbed to death on his birthday by a fellow student in 100-Level identified as Santa Cruise, of the Department of Public Administration on Wednesday.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that Mr Sharif was stabbed while trying to separate a fight between the alleged killer and another student at about 4.05 p.m. at the university gate.
He was reportedly stabbed with a broken bottle in the neck and bled to death before help could reach him.
CAMPUS REPORTER gathered that Mr Sharif was confirmed dead at the Good Shepherd Hospital, Ayingba.
Efforts to reach the university spokesperson, Joseph Edegbo, were unsuccessful. He refused to respond to calls and text messages since yesterday
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the police in the state, Williams Aya, confirmed the incident and promised the police will apprehend the suspect.
“The suspect will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly,” he said.
