The Kaduna State Government has announced a temporary resumption for both private and public secondary schools in the state.
In a press statement signed by the Commissioner of Education, Muhammad PhD, the resumption takes effect from Wednesday the 18th of August 2021.
The resumption for junior secondary school students who are in class 3 is as a result of their upcoming 2021 National Examination Council Basic Education Certificate Examination (NECO BECE) scheduled for Monday, 23rd August 2021 to Monday, 6th September 2021.
Recall that Campus Reporter earlier reported that Kaduna residents were unhappy with the delay in opening schools as Governor Mallam Nasir Elrufai announced the postponement of school resumption in the state on the 6th August 2021.
Schools in Kaduna have remained under lock and key since July and since then, parents, teachers and students have waited on the decision of education stakeholders in the state to call the students back to classrooms.
In an official statement gotten by Campus Reporter, the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) had advised members to comply with the directives of the government to close schools till further instructions are received.
On the 12th of August 2021, the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority forwarded a letter to NAPPS members to desist from going against government instructions by opening schools or face the consequences for ignoring the directives.
Still, on the 18th of August 2021, the government announced resumption dates for only JSS3 students in the state. The Ministry of Education in a press statement laid emphasis and gave a strict warning to all private school owners and public school heads to resume operations solely for JSS 3 students who will be dressed in mufti.
Temporal Relocation Of Nysc Orientation Camp
Similarly, corps member activities such as wearing NYSC outfits have been put on hold since July. Corps members now dress in mufti while on any official visitation to their various Local Government Secretariats and the State Secretariat.
Also, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp located along Kaduna – Abuja Road, has been temporarily moved to Government College, a metropolitan area in Kaduna. This was the result of preparations by NYSC officials, security operatives and the government to safeguard the state.
All these actions and decisions made by the Kaduna State Government are to curb the level of incessant kidnapping in the state.
