HiFL Announces Fixtures, Dates Of The 2021 Official Round Of 16 Draws

The officials of the Higher Institution Football League (HiFL) has announced the dates and fixtures of the 2021 official round of 16 draws. 


The league, which was announced in an official event on Friday 4th of June, 2021 at Radisson Blu, Ikeja, Lagos was attended by many dignitaries amongst which are President, Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA), Prof. Stephen Hamafyelto; Marketing Manager, Nivea Men, Faizal Kayode; Director PACE Sports and Entertainment Marketing (PSEM), Sola Fijabi; Chief Strategy Officer PSEM, Goodness Onyejiaku; Brand Manager, Minimie, Monica Jaiswal; and chairman Higher Institution Football League, Dr Kachi Onubogu; is expected to span through five weeks with four weeks of the competition and a mid-week interval for necessary action to be sorted out between the home matches and away matches.


The competition will be between different Nigerian universities cutting across the six geopolitical zones in the country.


Each team has been paired with another team and each pair is expected together – the home match and the away match respectively.


The first set of games will be between the AAUA Luminaries of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko and OAU Giants of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; the UNIBEN Royals of the University of Benin and the UNICAL Malabites of the University of Calabar; the LAUTECH Hunters of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso and the FUTMINNA Transformers of the Federal University of Technology, Minna. The BUK Stallions of the Bayero University, Kano and the UNIMAID Desert Warriors of the University of Maiduguri are expected to play for Week 1 and Week 3 Fixtures slated to hold on Wednesday 7th of July, 2021 and Wednesday 28th of July, 2021 for both home matches and away matches respectively.


While the second set of games will between the FUTA Tigers of the Federal University of Technology, Akure and the UNILAG Marines of the University of Lagos; the IAUE Minders of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education and the UNN Lions of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; the ABU Nobles of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the UAM Tillers of the Federal University of Agriculture, Markurdi. The KSU Steelers of the renamed Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba and the UNILORIN Warriors of the University of Ilorin are expected to play for the Week 2 and Week 4 Fixtures slated to hold on Wednesday 14th of July, 2021 and Wednesday 4th of August, 2021.
