The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on the 12th of August 2020, paid a visit to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Ogbomosho, where he commissioned two buildings. The buildings–the Patients Relative Building and the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) building–were built and donated by the Ogbomosho Pivotal Club.
During the governor’s visit to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomosho, he visited the institution’s college of health. There, he met with student leaders of the institution as well as staff and the management body. While at the college, he mentioned that he was elected to serve the people and, therefore, had approved the payment of COVID-19 hazard allowance to health workers in Oyo State. The Governor also announced that he had approved the payment of 2014 corrected CONMESS to the institution’s workers and the payment of salaries to the 177 staff who were recently reengaged. According to him, all of the payments he mentioned are to be paid at the end of the month.
The Government also noted that processes required to plan the 2021 budget will start in about a month. Having understood that life has to go on despite the pandemic, he plans to give the Health sector its due considerations with some employment plans and training opportunities.
The Chief Medical Officer also took his time to appreciate the Governor’s visit to the institution. In his speech, he appreciated the Governor for the prompt payment of salaries and the COVID-19 palliatives given to the staff.
In attendance were the Institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Ologunde Michael Olufisayo, the caretaker committee chairman, Olabiyi Olamide Anthony, a former SUG President, Abiodun Oluwasuen(Laurel), students and staff of LAUTECH.
