Gani Adams, Fela Durotoye, others to grace LASUSU week
Notable individuals such as Gani Adams, Fela Durotoye, Iyaloja of Nigeria, Bisola of Big Brother Naija fame will grace the Lagos State University Students’ Union Week.
This was disclosed on Wednesday the Chairman Planning committee and also LASUSU General Secretary, Akinwande Akinwale popularly known as Whyty.
Mr. Akinwale said that Lasuites should expect something extraordinary as ‘a lot of plans have been put down, starting from the symposium, which is the first day to Mr and Miss LASU that would round up the week’, he then listed out the events to be Symposium, Marathon, Cultural festival, Sports festival, beauty pageant.
LASUSU week is a lecture free week and annual event for the Lagos State University students. It usually takes place in the second semester. This year, it is slated to commence on the 12th of November 2018.
In a short video uploaded on LASUSUWEEK page on Instagram, the Lagos State University Students’ Union President, Olalere Moshood Samuel popularly known as Samgrin was seen highlighting the various events to take place during the week. These events according to the president are Symposium, Marathon, Cultural festival, Sports festival and Mr and Miss LASU.
Mr Akinwale, in response to the unique features that the events hold, said that “for the symposium, we are currently pushing for soul touches, big time motivational speakers and at the end of the day, some students would be assigned to each speaker to go to serve as tutelage under them.”
He continued saying, “The likes of Fela Durotoye who has been a long time motivational speaker and business strategist has been confirmed meanwhile, we await the confirmation of others like him”, he added.
He mentioned that the second program which is the Marathon will be spectacular as it is being coordinated by the organizers of the Lagos City Marathon and there will be lots of prizes to be won.
Akinwale also reveals that the Iyalode of Nigeria and Gani Adams will be coming for the cultural festival, in his words, “The cultural festival is one that is set to host the iyaloja general of Nigeria and the Aare Ona Kankanfo of Yoruba land, Gani Adams. It is going to be a festival where various faculty would depict various traditions and culture. It is going to be a dance around the school, starting from the VC block to the auditorium and final dance at the sports centre.”
Then he moved on to the unique feature of the pageantry, ‘and of course, the final day which has always been MISS LASU would now be Mr and Miss LASU, which means it is a two in one pageantry show. The likes of Bisola of Big brother Niger and Jeff Akoh of project fame have been confirmed up to this stage and more confirmations are still to come.’
