Edo State Reviews Curfew, Commence Dusk To Dawn

The Edo State government has reviewed the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed in the state on Monday, October 19, 2020, as a result of violence due to the hijacking of #EndSARS peaceful protests.

The Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, made this known in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Mr Crusoe Osagie, on Thursday in Benin.

According to the statement, the curfew is now to commence from 4 pm to 6 am daily, starting from Friday, October 23, and will be reviewed after 72 hours.

“We have reviewed the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed in the state on Monday, October 19, 2020, to quell civil disturbances in the wake of the hijack of #ENDSARS protests

The curfew is now to commence from 4 pm to 6 am daily, starting from Friday, October 23, and would be reviewed after 72 hours.”

The state government urged the citizens to adhere strictly to the new directives and return home before the curfew after going about their normal business.

He said: “We urge citizens to adhere strictly to the new directive, as we remain committed to the security of lives and property.”

“I enjoin Edo people to go about their normal businesses and return home before the kick-off of the curfew,” he added.

The situation of fear and unrest that rocked Edo State over violent attacks earlier this week is beginning to recess and activities across the state are returning to normal.
