The Chairman of the Ondo State Council Of Obas and the Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, HRM. Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi Odundun has authorised the closure of all markets and stalls in Akure on Friday the 1st of October 2021.
The order, which was announced by the Chief Secretary To The Monarch, Mr Adeyeye Micheal, is to honour the Late Hon. Adedayo Omolafe popularly known as Expensive, representing Akure South/North federal constituency at the House Of Representatives in Abuja.
The release read: “His Majesty wishes to urge all indigenes and residents of Akure to use the opportunity in paying their last respect to one of the most illustrious sons of Akure Kingdom and also remember his immediate family in their prayers.”
The release also added that though the Akure community is aggrieved at this moment, they are consoled with the fact and assurances that he lived a fulfilling life no matter how short.
“There is no iota of doubt that Hon. Adedayo Omolafe came, he saw and he conquered. His Majesty urges all Akure sons and daughters to continue to support and remember his immediate family in their prayers.”
However, His Royal Majesty prayed that God will continue to protect and be with the family he left behind.
Honourable Omolafe will be interred on the 1st of October, Independence Day.
Who is Honourable Omolafe (Expensive)?
Late Honourable Omolafe was born in Akure, Ondo state to the family of Chief Alabi Omolafe, on the 18th of April 1964.
Until his death, he held a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management from the Imo State University and a Diploma in Business Administration and Management from the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.
While he lived, he served in different leadership positions. He was elected as the Councilor for the Akure South Local Government Area, Supervisor for the Akure South Local Government Area and the Vice-Chairman of the Akure South Local Government Area.
Late Omolafe was a two-term executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government and a former Chairman of ALGON, Ondo State chapter.
He was also the Ondo State Coordinator of the Subsidy Re-investment Programme of the federal government (SURE-P) and the Chairman Ondo State Property Development Board.
Late Honourable Omolafe was elected in 2019 under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to represent the people of Akure North and South at the House of Representatives.
Late Honourable Adebayo Isaac Komolafe passed away at about 2 am on Monday the 16th of August 2021 at the Federal Medical Centre FMC, Owo, Ondo, at the age of 57.
