The Sokoto state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has commended the philanthropic efforts of all donors who have donated towards helping to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Sokoto and Nigeria at large.
He said this during his Sallah broadcast on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr celebration on the 24th of May 2020.
In his broadcast, he announced that BUA, Access bank, UBA, Fidelity Bank, Eco Bank, NNPC, Nigeria Flour Mills, members of the National Assembly and the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Foundation are the only organisations, so far, that have assisted the state in cash and kind.
“Let me seize this opportunity to once again express our profound gratitude to individuals and organisations that have assisted us in cash and kind in the fight against the pandemic. These include CA-COVID group, BUA, Access Bank, UBA, Fidelity Bank, Eco Bank, Nigeria Flour Mills, NNPC, some members of the National Assembly, Goodluck Ebele Johnathan Foundation and other good spirited individuals,” he said.
Furthermore, the governor commended the dedication and sacrifices of all health workers in the country.
He said: “I wish to especially appreciate the dedication and sacrifice of our health workers who are the first line of defence against the Coronavirus. Your role has not only saved many lives but also gone a long way in limiting the spread of the pandemic.”
He, however, urged all Nigerians to increase their supplications and prayers so as to bring an end to all the difficulties and challenges in the nation and the world at large.
