The Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has disclosed that the state will soon enforce compulsory face mask usage on her residents.
He made this known at his residence in Ikenne while briefing the newsmen on COVID-19 in the state.
Abiodun disclosed that the state would begin the enforcement of face mask usage in every part of the state by the end of the week. Adding that everyone in the state must wear a face mask to reduce the spread of the virus in the state.
“It is not important what the face mask is made of, just carry something around your face. You can use cotton, you can use whatever materials.
“Face masks have benefits of shielding the afflicted from infecting others and vice versa.
“So, the advantage of face mask cannot be overemphasised. And we have seen in other climes the importance of face masks.
“By the end of the week, we [will] be enforcing the face mask usage, we would try to provide as many as we can, but for the population of five million people, we cannot provide face mask for everyone. We are encouraging everybody to use your face mask.”
The governor, however, cautioned the residents from using Adire material to cover their nose.
He further added: “We want to caution against the use of Adire because Adire has some dyes that have been [added] chemically that can affect our breathing. Let not use Adire, but let’s use any other material.”
