A non-governmental organization, Hope In God Foundation (HIGF), has concluded a three-day village outreach to provide medical assistance, empowerment, donation of food items and clothing to people of Ilewo-Orile community in Ogun State to cushion the effect of Covid-19.
HIGF is a nongovernmental organization founded in 2012 to alleviate poverty through empowerment, giving hope and support to the hopeless as well as encouraging peace in homes by giving faith-based counselling.
Since its inception, the organization has made donations and empowered over 3,500 people including old, children, and youths in at least four states in rural and urban communities across Nigeria.
The program which took place between 18th and 20th of August under its community outreach was done in partnership with The Gospel of the Kingdom Ministry.
The Executive Director, Adedugbe Olanireti, stated that the project is aimed at cushioning the effect of Covid-19 on the people of the community.
“The major motive of the organization is to touch the abandoned, the destitute and less privileged in the society and so to achieve that we came up with the program to touch people with the prevalence of Covid-19 in Nigeria which has affected a lot of communities.
“The village outreach impacted the people like a lot of them were vulnerable to a lot of things because of Covid-19. After the outreach, we looked for serious-minded people amongst them and we are going to be setting them up with our starters pack project. We donated relief materials like clothing, foodstuffs and shoes to them.
“The program benefited over 300 people including children, youths, and old ones in the community,” Mrs Olanireti added.
Speaking to one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Toyin Idowu noted that the initiative was a relief to the community which has long suffered because of Covid-19
“I enjoyed every aspect of the program. The empowerment session and medical session really helped me since they started three days ago. You know as a result of Covid-19 things have not been cool for us in every area but with the programme, some of us have been given foodstuffs and clothing materials.
“Now I can prepare Vaseline, puff-puff, and soap. The grace of God that brought you here will take you back to your location. Thanks to HIGF,” she added.
Another beneficiary identified as Ojewunmi Sandra lauded the organization for coming up with the program.
She said: “This program is very nice and interesting. It made us learned a lot of things we don’t know. The apprentice session has taught me how to some things I don’t know how to do before.”
“ I will use what we have been taught to set myself and start up a new business. I want to say a big thank you to the organizers of this wonderful program,” Miss Sandra added.
