Men of the Nigerian Army have scattered the protest organised by the coalition of the Ondo State University students against the incessant ASUU strike today.
The protest -marking its second day in the state’s capital city, Akure- was organised by the student union leaders of the four major universities in the state: AAUA, FUTA, UNIMED and OAUSTECH after the recent meeting between the Federal government and ASUU ended on a fruitless note.
According to a reliable source within the Ondo NANS JCC axis who was present at the scene, the military persons were hindered from driving their vehicle along Road Block -a lane in Akure- as a result of the protest.
However, the intent to break free led to the damage of musical instruments and other properties owned by the protesters.
It must be recalled that some unidentified persons had launched an attack on the Union Bus conveying students from AAUA along Ogbese Road, which led to damage of the Bus, while some persons were hospitalised yesterday.
The source, who craved anonymity for security reasons, further disclosed that the issue will be handled by the NANS Ondo JCC axis as they are in the best position to release a statement on subsequent actions.
