Members of the Anambra State Open Government Partnership held a review meeting in Awka, the state capital, on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on the thematic areas of the OGP namely fiscal responsibility, citizen engagement, climate change, access to information and anti-corruption.
Speaking at the event, OGP national coordinator and aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on justice sector reforms, Juliet Ibeaku, said, “the OGP will provide a veritable platform to enable Anambra State to achieve public trust in government activities and enhance stability and citizen participation.”
Ms Ibeaku spoke through the executive director of Ethics and Compliance Institute of Nigeria, Chukwuemeka Ideani.
Also speaking, the coordinator Anambra State Open Alliance, Chirs Azor, said the state had made a draft action plan in line with the thematic focus of the OGP.
Mr Azor applauded Anambra State’s commitment to the OGP and disclosed it is one of the three pilot states in Nigeria.
Participants took turns to encourage states and citizens to join the OGP to deepen accountability, transparency and public participation.
OGP was launched in 2011 and Nigeria is its 70th member.
