At the end of a State Executive Meeting on Monday the 3rd of June, the reshuffling of the Governor’s cabinet was announced in Anambra State, shocking many commissioners and members of the public alike.
The announcement saw several commissioners being moved to lead different commissions, including Arc Mike Okonkwo being made the Commissioner for Housing from his previous position as the Commissioner for Environment, Hon Bonaventure Enemali who was the Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy is now the Commissioner for Land while the former commissioner for Land, Hon Nnamdi Onukwuba is now the Commissioner for Agriculture.
Likewise, Hon Obi Nwankwo who was the former commissioner for Public Utilities is now the Commissioner for Environment while the former commissioner for Housing and Hon Emeka Ezenwanne has become the Commissioner for Public Utilities.
In a press release, the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr James Eze stated that the reassigned commissioners have been given two weeks to handover and resume their new positions.
He also added that, according to the Governor of the State, every Commissioner is equal and he wants every member of his team to put in their best effort.
While speaking to the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment concerning the development, Hon. C. Don Adinuba noted that the reshuffling was borne out of the need for the State to reach certain landmarks in some areas, which will leave a lasting legacy for the administration.
