An alumnus of the Faculty of Law at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Rufai Khalid, has donated 200 copies of a textbook to the faculty and its final year students.
The book, titled: “Company Secretary and Legal Adviser” which was distributed at the faculty board to the final year law students of the faculty on Thursday 20th May 2020 was authored by the donor himself.
The Dean of the Faculty, Professor Mufutau Rufai, speaking on behalf of the donor, said 200 copies of the books were received, 150 pieces were asked to be shared with the students, while 50 pieces will be shared to the faculty library, school library and college of legal studies library.
According to him, the donor (who graduated from the faculty in 1990) has served in different capacities in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and has felt the need to give back to his roots by donating these books.
After the distribution, Professor Mufutau urged the students to also emulate the same gesture after graduation, by giving back to the faculty in the future.
“You are now in your final year, also remember to give back to the faculty when you go to the larger society. There are different alumni of the faculty who had been assisting the faculty in one way or the other. There some of our alumnus who donated money as prizes for the best students upon their graduation and others who donated internet connection to the faculty environs. We also have others who promised to give to the faculty in the coming times. These are the activities of the alumni, in case you want to be part of the success story,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Ibrahim Sanyinna, a final year law student, thanked the donor, the dean and other faculty staff in absentia for the gift and their efforts in providing good mentorship for the students in the faculty.
“On behalf of the final year students, we wish to express our thanks and appreciation to both the faculty and Barr Rufai who found us worthy of such fantastic gift. Inshaa Allah we would do the same after our graduation and later in life. We thank them immensely and may Allah reward them abundantly.”
