Musa Salisu Usman, a 400-Level student of Geographical Science at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University has shared the horrible experience he went through while he was in the den of kidnappers who captured him last year.
Recall that Musa Salisu was abducted from his father’s shop in Nasarawa Eggon local government area, Nasarawa State on Tuesday, 22 December 2020 at exactly 7:30 pm in the evening and was released the following day.
He revealed that he was kidnapped by 6 men and they all used facemasks to cover their faces. The operation occurred while people around had gone to the mosque to observe the Maghrib prayer.
“They usually come at the time of prayer. Some people around that place are doing their businesses, but they were not aware of anything. He also noted that these bandits didn’t come with a car nor a motorcycle but they all came barefoot. We trekked for more than three hours in the bush,” he recounted.
He added that those kidnappers were speaking the Fulani language and noted that he spent a whole day in their custody from 7:30 pm on Tuesday to 7:30 pm on Wednesday.
“They demanded the sum of 20 million naira but I don’t know the exact ransom they later paid to them. These people used my phone to call my parents and I wasn’t allowed to know what they were telling them. I think someone gave them information because I was the only one that was kidnapped on that day.”
Musa told CAMPUS REPORTER that he was given Shasha Doya (roasted yam) to eat but he refused to eat anything. According to him, the worst part of his experience was the fact that they did not encounter any security agencies on their way till they reached the bush they were keeping their victim called ‘Gidan Waya.’
“They collected the ransom in cash and most of these people were hiding under the rock and the place they took me to is within the vicinity of where I was kidnapped. I wasn’t myself until I was handed over to my parent after payment of ransom for my release.
“Since they were six in number, three of them went for the money and the other three were with me to confirm if the payment has been made before handing me over to my parent. We reported to the Police station but none of them has been apprehended till this moment. Many people in our town knew the place they were carrying out their operation and the name of the place is Gidan Waya,” he disclosed.
