Following the commissioning of the newly-completed Adekunle Ajasin University Business School by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, in Akure, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Olugbenga Ige has said there is no doubt that the modern education infrastructure will train and produce personnel for the commercial and corporate sector globally in the Twenty-First century and beyond.
Ige, in his speech, said the special building project was conceived and supervised by the Governing Council under the leadership of Dr Tunji Abayomi, which commenced in February 2020.
He said despite all the obvious challenges of funding, post COVID-19 inflation, among others, the institution strived hard to take the delivery of the project on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from the contractor, adding that the structure does not only add to the aesthetics and modernity of the state capital but also defined the modern AAUA, a 21st Century University.
He said: “This is a well-ventilated modern structure that comprises 14 lecture halls, 14 office spaces, an ICT hall, a large conference room, six storerooms, a large number of conveniences, and other modern amenities. Not only does this edifice have enough parking and recreation space upfront, but also there is a quantum of space at the back for future expansion.”
Ige said the building was wholly-funded through the University’s capital vote, reiterating that it is unarguably the most modern, compelling and most aesthetically pleasing building.
He further stated that the school will not only serve as an academic hub to offer long term Executive Masters in Business Administration programmes and short-term Certificate Courses for career persons and corporate organisations but will also collaborate with other world-class Business Schools and institutions around the world that could provide academic support and meaningful academic exchange in the administration of its prospective courses.
While assuring Governor Akeredolu and others at the event of competent hands to maintain the structure and to keep both the external and internal contents in pristine condition, he said the promising initiative will be renowned as the second strategically-positioned Business School in the whole of South-West, Nigeria, and also expand the University’s academic programmes towards benefitting corporate individuals and organisations.
“Efforts [will] also be made to ensure around-the-clock guarantee of the safety and security of the complex and Alat this juncture, let me sincerely thank the visitors to our University and Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for providing the fund to execute this project and other support being given to the University, and as an Oliver Twist, we still require more funding to fully furnish this edifice. “
Recall that Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Monday commissioned the newly-completed Adekunle Ajasin University Business School in Akure, the state capital, where he called on philanthropists, relevant stakeholders, corporate organisations and well-to-do citizens to join hands with his administration to expand the frontiers of infrastructural development of institutions in the state.
