Following the meeting held on July 1st, 2021 and the circular released on the said date, the management of AAUA has released another circular on the 2nd of July to announce the decision reached after deliberating.
It stated that the examination, which was scheduled to begin on the 5th of July has been postponed by one week and will commence on the 12th of July, 2021.
The circular, signed by Gbenga Arajulu the registrar, read: “The deadline for the completion of registration is hereby extended by one week. This is to ensure that students pay their school fees and complete their registration.”
However, it was disclosed that any student who still fails to pay his/her school fees and complete registration for the 2019/20 academic session before the approved date would forfeit his/her studentship for the session.
It could be recalled that the Students Union Executives, led by Comrade Obagunwa Oluwasegun, met with the school management on July 1st to agitate for the postponement of the forthcoming 2019/2020 second semester examination slated to commence on July 4th, 2021.
The statement was made known in a press release published by the student union body on Thursday the 1st of July, signed by Obagunwa Oluwasegun, which was disseminated by the Union’s Public Relations Officer, Adegbeyeni Oluwafemi.
“The leadership of the Union and some students stakeholders earlier today met with the Dean Of Students Affairs to discuss germane issues as regards the circular released yesterday, below are demands itemized in the meeting. We agitated for postponement of examination date, as some departments are not done with lectures, and examination is supposed to come after the timetable has been out two weeks to the stated time.”
Also at the meeting, the Union requested that students should be given time to complete their registration so as not to lose the session.
“Since there is an existence of backend registrations already of which a fine of 2000 Naira is attached. Hence, the management should not use Forfeiture as the penalty for students in such categories because most parents of affected students are civil servants who are being starved of salary.”
However, the Union expressed its displeasure over the aggressive and anti-social attitudes of the staff at the University’s Information And Communication Technology Application Centre (ICTAC).
Also, the postponement of the students union election was discussed during the meeting.
The Union urged all students to be law-abiding and to look forward to the response of the University’s management, as the date for the commencement of the examination still remains July 4th, unless the postponement is approved and announced by the university management.
“Finally we advise all students to pay up their tuition fee and complete their registration as soon as possible as the portal is now accessible and those having issues can report to any Student Union members.”
